There is a small beach along a bay on the Lake of Two Mountains for families to enjoy during the summer and the Pointe-aux-Carrières lookout with beautiful views of the lake, and trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.

Cap-Saint-Jacques Nature Park

Looking for a park with plenty of amenities and a variety of activities? Then you’ll love Cap-Saint-Jacques Nature Park! At just over 300 hectares, this is Montreal’s largest park. Located in the Pierrefonds-Roxboro area of the West Island, at the intersection of Lake of Two Mountains and the Rivière des Prairies, this park is on a peninsula and almost completely surrounded by water. With guided tours, an on-site restaurant and on-site equipment rental service, it’s easy to see why this park is so great. Home to a natural sand beach, a sugar shack, a pool, and an ecological farm that is open year-round, with summer activities like canoeing, kayaking, fishing, walking trails, cycling, bird-watching and plenty of winter fun as well with sledding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Stay warm in the heated chalets or take in the historic sites of the Château Gohier and Thomas-Brunet house.

Terra-Cotta Natural Park

Located in Pointe-Claire, this 40-hectare woodland was made into a park to preserve the environment while providing nature lovers access to a variety of plant and animal life. It has 4.4km of hiking trails, 3 soccer fields with synthetic surfaces, snowshoeing and nordic walk trails, specifically marked for safe access to users while protecting plants and wildlife. In an attempt to protect monarch butterflies and bees and to encourage their presence in the park, there is a monarch butterfly educational garden and a bee educational garden.

Centennial Park

At the heart of D.D.O. in the West Island, sits the 48-hectare Centennial Park. Like many of the other parks, it offers walking and jogging trails, sledding, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and skating. It also has a dog park and plenty of places to have a picnic. A large artificial lake adds a sense of tranquility and helps carve out a space for country living in the city.
